News: Young man dies after car strikes tree off I-264 in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, VA — A single-vehicle wreck early Tuesday off Interstate 264 in Portsmouth claimed the life of a 21-year-old man, according to WAVY.

The fatal accident unfolded as the victim, Kishaun Clark, was driving a Nissan Maxima as he exited the highway onto Greenwood Drive at around 12:27 a.m.

It’s unclear what led up to the crash, but the Nissan veered off of the roadway and collided with a tree.

Clark, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time, was fatally injured in the crash.

No other occupants or vehicles were involved.

Portsmouth Police continue to investigate. At this time, speed has been determined to be a factor in the collision, but authorities are still working to determine whether alcohol played a role.
