News: Woman dies after car found submerged in SE Chesapeake lake

CHESAPEAKE, VA — A woman has died following an incident late Tuesday that left her car submerged in a southeast Chesapeake lake, reports WAVY.

The Chesapeake Police Department said officers and fire crews responded to the scene at the intersection of Hillcrest Parkway and Edinburgh Parkway shortly after receiving a call at around 11:13 p.m.

Crews with the Chesapeake Police Underwater Search and Recovery Team were also called to the area, where they extricated the woman from the vehicle.

Officials confirmed that the victim died from her injuries after being transferred to a local hospital.

A full investigation remains open and ongoing.
