News: Teen passenger dies after car strikes pillar in Norfolk’s Norview area

NORFOLK, VA — A single-vehicle accident Tuesday night in northeast Norfolk’s Norview neighborhood claimed the life of 17-year-old passenger, according to WAVY.

The crash occurred in the 6500 block of Chesapeake Boulevard, near Norview Elementary School. Norfolk Police responded to the scene at around 10:17 p.m.

An investigation was underway, but preliminary details indicate a passenger car ran off the roadway and hit a concrete pillar. Officials say speed appears to have been a contributing factor.

First responders rushed the 17-year-old male passenger to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

No information regarding the condition of the driver or the other passenger have been shared, but both were expected to make a recovery.

The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is expected to review the case following an investigation by the Norfolk Police Department.
