News: Collision closes part of I-264 EB in downtown Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH, VA — Crews were dispatched to a vehicle wreck Monday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 264 in downtown Portsmouth, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The accident happened at Downtown Tunnel East and was first reported by VDOT at 1:29 p.m.
While very few details have been made available at this time, all eastbound lanes of I-264 in the area were shut down as authorities responded to the scene. Motorists were warned of potential delays.
As of this writing, authorities have not released any information regarding the cause of the crash, the types of vehicles impacted, or the conditions of those involved.
