Hit-and-Run Injures Pedestrian on Diamond Springs [VIRGINIA BEACH, VA]

Hit-and-run injures pedestrian on Diamond Springs Road in Virginia Beach late Tuesday night, leaving the victim with serious injuries and raising important concerns about pedestrian safety and accountability.

According to Virginia Beach authorities, the incident occurred around 10:09 p.m. in the 2100 block of Diamond Springs Road. A dark-colored minivan was traveling southbound when it struck an adult male pedestrian in the second travel lane. Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene and was last seen heading away from the area near Lennox Drive.

When officers arrived, they found the injured pedestrian and immediately facilitated transport to a nearby hospital. Emergency medical responders confirmed that the victim had sustained serious injuries but was in stable condition. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

Virginia Beach’s Special Operations Bureau is currently investigating the case. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling 757-385-4606.

Understanding the Impact of Hit-and-Run Accidents

Being involved in a hit-and-run crash can be traumatic and overwhelming. Victims are often left with physical injuries, emotional distress, and significant financial burdens due to medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage. In situations where the at-fault driver flees the scene, the sense of injustice can feel even more intense.

Unfortunately, incidents like the one on Diamond Springs Road are becoming increasingly common, and they highlight the need for stronger community awareness and legal advocacy for victims.

Compensation Options for Hit-and-Run Victims

Victims of hit-and-run accidents may be entitled to various forms of compensation, even if the responsible driver is not immediately identified. This can include coverage for:

  • Medical bills (current and future)

  • Lost income and reduced earning capacity

  • Pain and suffering

  • Rehabilitation and physical therapy

  • Emotional trauma

  • Property damage

If the driver is located and identified, their insurance may be liable for all damages. If not, victims can sometimes turn to their own uninsured motorist (UM) coverage or explore civil claims. Navigating these options can be complex, which is why legal guidance is so critical.
