News: Woman dies, 3 others left injured after head-on crash in west Hampton
HAMPTON, VA — A two-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon in west Hampton claimed the life of a 41-year-old woman and left three other people hurt, reports WAVY.
The fatal accident happened on a stretch of West Queen Street at Salters Creek Road. Police dispatchers were first alerted at 4:37 p.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, a brown SUV was heading westbound on the roadway when, for reasons still unclear, its driver lost control. Moments after the brown SUV veered into the eastbound lanes, it collided with an oncoming white SUV.
Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue rushed four people to a local hospital, where the 41-year-old woman, Hampton resident Twala Grant, died from her injuries.
Officials have not released any information regarding the conditions of the other patients or which of the two vehicles they were traveling in.
Hampton Police instructed motorists to find alternate routes as all travel lanes in the immediate area were shut down for the response and investigation.
