News: Driver pleads guilty for deadly crash near Greenbrier

CHESAPEAKE, VA – A driver has pleaded guilty to his charges stemming from a deadly crash at Crossways Blvd and Jarman Rd on July 13, 2023, according to WAVY.

A 23-year-old male passed an officer at a high rate of speed on I-64 WB. The officer attempted to pull over the driver, but he sped off.

The suspect continued southbound on Greenbrier Pkwy and turned right onto Crossways Blvd, where he T-boned a Honda Sadan at Crossways Blvd and Jarman Rd.

Two people in the Honda, David Jones, 65, and Jennifer O’Connell, 54, died in the crash.

Following the collision, the driver fled the scene on foot. Officers arrested him on the 600 block of Jarman Rd.

Authorities charged the driver with two counts of murder, felony eluding and felony hit-and-run.

The driver will be sentenced in May.
