News: Crash, downed power lines reported on George Washington Hwy in Chesapeake
CHESAPEAKE, VA — A vehicle struck a utility pole Wednesday night, downing power lines on George Washington Highway in northwest Chesapeake, reports WAVY.
The accident, which left the highway at Delwood Road blocked, was first called in to authorities at around 9:54 p.m.
Very few details have been made available at this time, but the driver was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
While no injuries have been reported following the event, traffic signal outages were reported at the corner of Canal Drive and Gilmerton Road.
Motorists were forced to divert from the area as crews responded to the scene.
