News: Alleged impaired driver turns herself in for fatal crash in Downtown Tunnel

NORFOLK, VA – A woman who was allegedly drunk when she caused a deadly collision in the Downtown Tunnel on Dec. 30th turned herself in to authorities on Monday, according to 13 News Now.

The 27-year-old suspect is accused of driving a Volkswagen Tiguan east in the westbound lanes before colliding with a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 43-year-old woman around 3:15 a.m.

The 43-year-old woman died in the crash. Rescue crews transported the 27-year-old woman to an area hospital with serious injuries. She was released from the hospital before troopers could serve her a warrant for her arrest.

The 27-year-old woman turned herself in around 10:45 on Monday. She has been charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter.

The 27-year-old woman appeared in court on Tuesday.

The Virginia State Police is investigating the incident.
