News: Motorcyclist flees following police chase, crash in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, VA – A man is facing a number of charges in connection to a hit-and-run involving a stolen motorcycle in Chesapeake on Tuesday, WTKR reports.

Troopers spotted the stolen motorcycle traveling on I-264 without its headlights on. Despite multiple attempts to stop the suspect, a chase leading towards Chesapeake ensued.

The pursuit ended shortly after it began when the motorcyclist encountered heavy traffic near the High Rise Bridge and took the exit. He later collided with another vehicle in the 2900 block of Military Highway.

The suspect initially fled on foot, but was located a short time later. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear whether the other driver invovled in the crash was hurt.

The suspect has been charged with felony elude, reckless driving, and possession of stolen property, with more charges pending.
