News: Hit-and-run on Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake kills child

CHESAPEAKE, VA – A hit-and-run in northeast Chesapeake claimed the life of a young child on Tuesday afternoon.

According to 13 News Now, the victim was hit at about 4:15 p.m. while walking in the 1700 block of Battlefield Boulevard South near the intersection with Debaun Avenue.

The child, 8, was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers; no immediate information on their identity or the type of vehicle involved is available at this time.
