One Seriously Injured in HRBT Crash Thursday [HAMPTON, VA]
HAMPTON, Va.– Virginia State Police are investigating a serious single-vehicle crash that occurred at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) early Thursday morning. The incident, which unfolded around 7:30 a.m. on the westbound side of the HRBT, resulted in one individual sustaining life-threatening injuries.
According to police reports, the driver of a 2017 Lexus SUV, identified as 22-year-old Trinity Iris Downs, lost control of the vehicle while traveling westbound. The SUV veered off course and collided forcefully with the jersey wall, a concrete barrier designed to separate traffic lanes.
The impact of the crash was severe, causing significant damage to the vehicle and leaving Downs with critical injuries. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported Downs to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Authorities have indicated that charges related to the crash are pending, and the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
