Fatal Crash Ends 140 mph Motorcycle Chase early Saturday morning, leaving one young rider dead and raising serious concerns about the dangers of high-speed pursuits. According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), the incident began shortly after 1:24 a.m. when a trooper spotted a motorcycle traveling at more than 100 mph in a 55 mph zone along Interstate 264 West.

Authorities say that when the trooper activated emergency lights, the motorcyclist refused to stop, escalating the situation into a high-speed pursuit. During the chase, speeds reportedly climbed well beyond 140 mph, creating a severe risk not only to the rider but also to other road users.

The chase continued as the motorcyclist exited at Ballentine Boulevard, disregarded a red light, and then re-entered I-264 West. Police reported that the rider later exited Brambleton Avenue at extreme speeds, running another red light at Park Avenue. The pursuit ended tragically near Marshall Avenue, where the rider lost control and struck a concrete wall at the end of Brambleton Boulevard.

Emergency crews immediately rushed to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, including CPR. Sadly, the rider—identified as 20-year-old Christian Robert Markus Snyder—was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other vehicles were directly involved in the crash. The VSP Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the sequence of events leading up to the fatal collision.
