A driver gets 6-month sentence for hitting a Virginia trooper after a high-speed incident that occurred last November. According to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, 23-year-old Jayden Wallace of Virginia Beach received multiple charges and was ordered to serve time in prison following the dangerous encounter.

Sentencing Details

On Tuesday morning, the court handed Wallace a six-month active prison sentence along with additional suspended terms. His charges included:

• Eluding Endangerment: 5 years with all 5 years suspended

• Hit and Run Injury: 5 years with 4 years and 6 months suspended

• Aggressive Driving: 12 months with 12 months suspended

• Speeding Over 85 mph: 12 months with 12 months suspended

Alongside prison time, Wallace was also sentenced to five years of good behavior, supervised probation of an undetermined length, and ordered to pay $1,783.73 in restitution. The Attorney’s Office noted that the sentence went “above the high end of the recommended sentencing guidelines,” underscoring the severity of the offense.

The charges stemmed from a November 20, 2024, incident when Wallace was clocked driving 125 mph in a 55-mph zone on I-264 eastbound near Laskin Road. When Virginia State Police attempted to stop him, Wallace refused to pull over. The pursuit ended when Wallace’s vehicle struck a state trooper, causing injury, before he fled the scene. He was later apprehended and taken into custody.
