Authorities Search for Driver Involved in Hit-and-Run Accident

Authorities are actively searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Saturday, January 25. The incident occurred on the 1600 block of Hershberger Road in Roanoke, causing significant disruption and concern for those involved.

According to reports, Roanoke Police received a call about a multi-vehicle crash at approximately 10:31 a.m. Witnesses stated that three cars were involved in the collision. Police investigations revealed that the first vehicle’s driver struck a second vehicle, causing the second vehicle to cross a median and collide with a third vehicle. After causing the chain-reaction crash, the first vehicle’s driver fled the scene.

The authorities have not released any details about the hit-and-run driver or the vehicle they were operating. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Emergency Response and Road Closures

Emergency responders, including Fire-EMS personnel, arrived on the scene to evaluate the occupants of the second and third vehicles. While all individuals involved were reportedly conscious, the extent of their injuries remains unclear. Updates regarding their conditions have yet to be provided.

The crash caused temporary road closures on Hershberger Road, Rutgers Street, and the Valley View Blvd/Aviation Drive Exit. These roads have since been reopened, restoring normal traffic flow.
