A pedestrian was killed on Jefferson Ave in Newport News Thursday evening while attempting to cross a busy section of the roadway. The fatal accident occurred near City Center Boulevard in the Oyster Point area at approximately 7:15 p.m., according to local authorities.

Police reports indicate that the victim, a 47-year-old man, was struck by a 1998 Ford Econoline van while crossing Jefferson Avenue.
